Great Report!

Nurse Bob called yesterday with Christopher's lab results, and we couldn't be more pleased!  Thank you for your continued prayers!  ALL of the levels we have been watching are now within normal range (except for his creatinine level, which is to be expected at this point. Please continue to pray that this level will remain stable until his surgery).   May God receive ALL the glory!

Our monthly trips to the hospital for lab work have become a lot easier for Christopher.  Each trip is pretty uneventful, and he finally has figured that out.  Fortunately, Christopher finds the process of drawing blood very interesting, so it doesn't bother him at all.  Gracie is the same way.  She had her flu shot last week, and she was disappointed that the nurse blocked her view!  Can you imagine?  I can't.   The lab work (drawing blood) usually takes no longer than a few minutes, and Nurse Bob calls us the next day with the results. Our visit with the doctor only involves a few questions and answers.  Christopher doesn't mind the lab work, but  it's "all the talking" that takes up his time;-)  All of our children have been healthy, so visits to the doctor's office have typically been limited to well visits and a few sick visits through the years.  So, the concept of having to go to the doctor's office once per month was a little too much for Christopher at first.  Now, he doesn't mind it so much, other than the inconvenience:-)  I will say the medical team we work with is excellent, and they have always been patient with all of our questions, especially in the beginning.  We feel blessed to have such a great medical team.   Nurse Bob is amazing, and even though he gives me a hard time, I feel comfortable calling him when I have a question or concern.

Going to the children's hospital has really opened up a new world for Greg and me.  We actually go to the Children's Specialty Center where patients go for various outpatient appointments.  After each appointment, we always realize that we could be dealing with more difficult circumstances.  Yesterday, we met a father with his one year old daughter.  She had heart surgery at three months old, and they are waiting for her to gain weight so they can schedule surgery for her to receive a kidney.  He seemed like such a wonderful father.  A lot of patients loose their appetites during the final stage of kidney disease, so they are struggling to get her healthy.  This will give you a glimpse of why we are so grateful that Christopher feels so well and continues to thrive.  Catching his diagnosis before it caught us was such a blessing.  He will be healthy leading up to his surgery.  The medications have quickly placed his body where it needs to be until surgery.  The power of prayers.

Our family was the featured missionaries for the month of September in the GA (Girls in Action) and CIA (Children in Action) curriculum.  The GA (girls) and CIA (co-ed) teach children (1st-6th grade) about missions.  I grew up in GA's (my mother was my teacher for many years), and I taught Gracie's 5th grade GA group, so this was very exciting for me.  The children studied Victory Sports throughout September and how we use sports to share the Gospel.  We have received over 1,200 letters and emails from groups throughout the United States, and we had four different groups travel to meet us on a Saturday to observe Victory Sports' soccer games. We are still receiving letters and beautiful pictures!   A friend of ours told us that it was no mistake that our family was the focus during the month of  September.  The Lord used this timing since He "knew" we would need the extra prayers.  So, thank you to ALL of the GA and CIA groups for praying for our family and joining us on this journey.  We have written a letter back to all of the leaders, and we would love at some point to write each child back as well.  Christopher knows he has friends throughout the U.S. praying for him, and we really are grateful.  I wanted to share a few pictures below from the GA & CIA magazines.  I enlarged them so you could read some of the statements.

Our family wants to THANK YOU for your continued prayers!
