Happy Birthday Jesus! We hope each one of you have a wonderful Christmas as we celebrate our Savior's birthday.
Christopher continues to do well. We have a couple of people going through the health screening process at this time and several waiting to be called if needed. We are at peace with His timing, and we realize that He is in control of this whole situation. The Lord gives us more peace with each passing day.
Greg and I stopped by the hospital briefly yesterday morning to drop something off, and we spoke with one of the medical team members. I had some questions concerning post surgery, and she remarked that Christopher has a lot going for him. She stated that his age is actually a huge benefit. Also, with his particular kidney problem he doesn't have anything else going on with his body, so he is otherwise healthy (thank you, Lord!). He continues to ask great questions about the surgery, but he doesn't seem weighed down at all. Christopher is a typical 11 year old boy, but he is way beyond his years in many ways. Although he is the youngest of four, he has an "old soul". He truly knows that God is in control.
We really appreciate the prayers for our family. Please see specific prayer requests below:
- Please pray for those involved in the health screening process. May His perfect will be known, and may He be glorified.
- Please begin praying for how Christopher's body will respond post surgery. Pray that everything goes smoothly. Pray that he will be free from sickness and infections, specifically the first 3-6 months following surgery.
- Please begin praying for Christopher's hospital stay. He has never been in the hospital, so this will be something very new to him. Pray that he has no fear and he receives complete peace.
Fun Christmas pictures...
I love to create memories for our children! I actually get this from my mother. She is BIG on making memories. One of our Christmas (and birthday) traditions is making a chain to mark down the number of days until Christmas.
We really enjoyed our time visiting Greg's side of the family for Christmas last weekend. Gracie and I missed seeing his mother's side of the family on Sunday since we traveled back to her soccer tournament (they came in third, and they are waiting to see if they made "Premier" level), but we were able to spend time with Andy, Susan, and Rachel at their lake house. Andy is Greg's oldest brother, and it is always a lot of fun spending time with them.
It's time to start cooking for tonight's celebration with my parents and brothers. Christmas Eve is always a fun time with food and games in our home. We always end the evening with each of us lighting a candle (representing His light) and reading about His birth from the Bible. We will head to my parent's house for Christmas Day.

Our family went to the mall one evening this past week, and we stopped to chat on the sofas for awhile with our friend Becky. I thought it would be "cute" to have Becky take a family picture on the sofas in the mall. The teens didn't think it was too "cute", but hey, that makes it even more fun! They have learned to just play along with their mom's crazy ideas since "it will be over quicker". Now that I look at this picture, I am the only one enjoying myself:-) My sweet husband has learned to play along as well.

Closing this post, I have to end with putting the focus back on Him. Remember as we celebrate Christ's birthday that He wasn't left in the manger as a baby. He died for our sins so that we can live eternity with Him. While the process of having Christ in our lives is simple, there are definite and deliberate steps that each child of God must take:
- Recognize that you are a sinner and helpless to save yourself
- Ask Jesus to save you
- Receive His gift of salvation and peace.
Have a very blessed Christmas!
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
